Peter and the Starcatcher

What: Based on the celebrated children’s books by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, Peter and the Starcatcher takes us on a journey to discover how Peter Pan and his gang of friends and Captain Hook and his band of pirates, and even the magical Tinker Bell landed in Neverland and became enduring friends from our childhood. An imaginative prequel to the beloved Peter Pan, this enchanting story delights the inner child in every one of us.

The Drowsy Chaperone at OPPA!

What: The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight. Beautiful Dreamer Presented by Davis Arts Council

What: Beautiful Dreamer Trio plays wonderfully delightful music of yesteryear: Popular American Parlor Music. Inspired by the legacy of Stephen Foster, the “Father of American Music” (and taking their name from one of his last compositions), Beautiful Dreamer performs a wide variety of selections that family and friends would gather together in the best room of the home – the parlor -to enjoy listening and playing. These included folk songs and dances from ancestral homelands, American folk songs, and hymns and spirituals. Free admission.

Watercolor Workshop with Ian Ramsay

When: February 7-8, 2020

Where: Bountiful Davis Arts Center

What: The class will consist of step-by-step development of one painting by each student while following Ian’s lead for two days. You will learn watercolor landscape techniques for a realistic portrayal of sky, water, landscape, buildings, and boats. The class is relaxed and very informal. A drawing for all to work from will be supplied via email well before the class date.

Full-ish Moon Set Expedition

Antelope Island State Park, Wasatch Front

When: February 8, 2020 at 6:30 am

Where: Antelope Island

What: Join the park naturalist at the Lady Finger Trailhead at 6:30am for a short, 1/4 Mile hike to the point where we will be able to watch the full-ish moon set over Great Salt Lake.  Registration is required, and park entry fees apply. Bald Eagle Encounters

What: Every winter one of America’s most stunning birds of prey makes its way to Utah: the bald eagle. Join us during Eagle Encounters to discover the bald eagles that visit Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area. Activities include an informative presentation, an eagle-themed art project for the whole family, live birds, and eagle watching!

2020 South Davis Sweethearts 5K & 1K

What: Run with your sweethearts at the Wasatch Front’s sweetest Valentines race! Fun costumes, prizes and lots of LOVE! Come to the race in your sweetest outfit for the most fun and of course entertainment seeing everyone else’s sweet outfits and costumes! Family Art Night: Mixed Media Valentine’s

What: Every second Monday of the month, BDAC opens the art center for a free family art night. Parents and their children explore our galleries and create a work of art related to the current exhibition. This month they’ll be using a variety of tools and materials to make Valentine’s cards perfect for someone you care about inspired by Chad Crane’s collaborative art from “An Intimate Familiarity with Goldfish Crackers”. All ages are welcome but younger artists may want help from an adult. All materials are provided.

An Evening with Richard Paul Evan- Presented by Davis County Library

What: Richard Paul Evans will be joining us to discuss his writing and share stories of his many years of creating beloved characters and settings from his very popular novels. Senior Sing-Along with Lew Phelps & Friends

What: All ages welcome to this free community event, but especially ages 55+ are encouraged. Each year Lew invites seniors to join musicians and singers as they turn back the clock in this fun sing-a-long program. Every week features new instruments and a new program of songs the audience grew up humming.  Lew also teaches the group about music in a fun and interactive setting.
