Annual Davis School District Student Art Exhibition

When: February 28-April 4, 2020

Where: Bountiful Davis Arts Center

What: Boasting 95 of the best works from 9 different High Schools and 30 works from 9 Junior High Schools, the Annual Davis School District Student Exhibit gives students the opportunity to show their artwork in a professional gallery space where it will be judged by a working artist. This year’s exhibition will be judged by artist and teacher John Westenskow, known for teaching art and ceramics to the students of Mount Logan Middle School as well owning and being the art director for his own lucrative screen printing and airbrushing company. Winners will be announced at 7 PM at the reception on March 6th, which runs 6 – 8 PM.  Meet the artists and enjoy live music and refreshments!

Art After School

When: March 4, 11, and 18, 2020 from 4:30-5:30 pm

Where: Bountiful Davis Art Center

What: In this class you will be learning about famous artists throughout history, exploring their art work, and experiencing their techniques for ourselves. Both February and March will be the same overall theme but there will be different projects during each class. All materials are provided

 

Wi-Fi(ve) Presented by Davis Arts Council

Who’s Home on the Range

When: March 7th and 28th, 2020 at 11:00 am

Where: Antelope Island State Park

What: Join the park naturalist at 11:00am in the Visitor Center to learn about the diverse wildlife that calls Antelope Island “Home”.   We will discuss why they are here, how they survive this harsh environment, and what our roles are as visitors in their homes.   No reservation required.   For more information, contact tackley@utah.gov

 

Family Art Night

What: Science meets art! STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.  Art is very closely linked to the sciences. Thaumatropes work with the persistence of vision to help two pictures become one.  Join us on March 9 to make thaumatropes similar to the ones that have been used as popular toys in the 19th century. This class also involves a lesson on optical illusions in art.

Simple Treasures Spring Boutique

Roaring 20’s Family Night at the Library

What: Join Layton Family Recreation and the Davis County Central Branch Library for the Roaring 20’s Family Night at the Library event. Participate in games, book readings, and other fun activities that celebrate the “Roaring 20’s, 1920, and 2020. This is a free event.

 

Music Man

Where: CenterPoint Legacy Theatre

What: Timeless and fun, The Music Man is just as magical as if seventy-six trombones marched down your very own street!  CenterPoint Legacy Theater has done it again with this charming blast from the past, chock-full of memorable songs, hilarious and charming characters, and a story for the ages.

Wild Swan Day

When: March 14, 2020 from 9:00am-2:00 pm

Where: George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Wildlife Education Center

What: Join us in celebrating and watching swans at the Eccles Wildlife Education Center and Farmington Bay WMA. March is when tundra swans migrate through Utah, making it the perfect chance to see and learn more about them. Our experts and volunteers from Wasatch Audubon Society will be there to answer questions. Bring binoculars and spotting scopes if you have them. They will have some spotting scopes available for you to use. This event is free and family-friendly.

St Paddy’s Day Run 2020

When: March 14, 2020 from 9:00-11:00 am

Where: Ellison Park Field

What: A 5k and 10k race with fun for the whole family. Come out for some good exercise and fun. There will be green pancakes for all who attend (runners and spectators). There will also be a few activities for kids including a 1 mile run!

Spring Hike with Farmington Trails Committee

When: March 21, 2020 at 9:00 am

Where: Meet at Farmington Drive and 650 W

What: The Farmington Trails Committee is sponsoring a hike on Saturday, March 21st. Participants should meet at Farmington Drive (1400 N) approximately 650 W. The hike will begin at 9 am and follow the Shepard Creek trail. The trail follows the gully along the stream up to Compton Road. Dress appropriately for the weather and bring water.

 

Spring Fling- Combined Jazz Band and Community Choir Concert

When: March 23, 2020 from 7:00-8:00 pm

Where: Syracuse City Hall Chambers

What: Syracuse City’s Jazz Band concert and Choir concert. Come enjoy an evening of excellent music. The concert is in the beautiful City Hall Chambers and admission is free.

 

The 39 Steps
