Sweeney Todd

When: October 31-November 9, 7:30 pm

What: An infamous tale, Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, returns to nineteenth-century London, seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which, he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett’s luck sharply shifts when Todd’s thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up… and the carnage has only just begun!

Transcontinental Railroad-Stories from Mountain Man’s Point-of-View-Karl Behling

When: November 8th from 7:00-8:30 pm

Where: McEwan Home

What: Experience the Transcontinental Railroad from the perspective of a Mountain Man who observed the annihilation of one culture and the establishment of another through the “…stupendous magnitude…” of a project that divided and united a nation.  Professional Storyteller Karl Behling interprets the Transcontinental Railroad during its 150th Anniversary. Kaysville Veterans Day Program

When: November 9th from 11:00 am-2:00 pm

Layton Veterans Parade and Honors Ceremony
Vietnam Memorial Wall Replica

When: November 9th from 11:00 am-1:30 pm

Where: Layton Commons Park (Vietnam Memorial Wall Replica)

What: Layton City, the Northern Utah Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), and the Fleet Reserve Association (FRA) will host the annual Veterans Parade on Saturday, November 9, 2019. The Veterans Parade is an event to honor all men and women who have served and are currently serving in the Armed Forces. This year will mark the 14th year of the Veterans Parade and the 3nd time it has been held in Layton City. The Veterans Parade, scheduled to start at 11:11 am, will proceed through Layton City ending in Layton Commons Park, at Constitution Circle, just south of the newly constructed Vietnam Memorial Wall Replica.

Immediately following the Veterans Parade, Layton City, the VVA, and FRA will conduct a short ‘Veterans Honors Ceremony’ at the Vietnam Memorial Wall Replica site. The ‘Veterans Honors Ceremony’ is scheduled to start at the conclusion of the Veterans Parade, approximately 12:30pm.  Click here for more info.

Neither Wolf Nor Dog Free Screening

What: Davis Arts presents a free screening of the film Neither Wolf Nor Dog at Kaysville Theater.

Adapted from the acclaimed novel Neither Wolf Nor Dog by Kent Nerburn, the movie follows a white author who gets sucked into the heart of contemporary Native American life in the sparse lands of the Dakota’s by a 95-year-old Lakota elder and his side-kick.

Running time: 110 minutes

Les Misérables School Edition

In nineteenth-century France, Jean Valjean is released from years of unjust imprisonment, but finds nothing in store for him but mistrust and mistreatment. He breaks his parole in hopes of starting a new life, initiating a lifelong struggle for redemption as he is relentlessly pursued by police inspector Javert, who refuses to believe Valjean can change his ways. Finally, during the Paris student uprising of 1832, Javert must confront his ideals after Valjean spares his life and saves that of the student revolutionary who has captured the heart of Valjean’s adopted daughter.
