Annual Bison Roundup: October 27
Come witness a true Western experience as hundreds of horseback riders round up nearly 700 bison from around the Island and move them north into the holding corrals. Riders begin at 9:00 am from Fielding Garr Ranch and move the herd north. Visitors can watch this event from the east side road, as well as witnessing the final push into the corrals from a viewing area at White Rock Bay. Bring a can or box of food for the food bank and receive 20% off the entrance fee to the park.
In the viewing area at White Rock Bay there will be food vendors (please bring cash if you want to purchase food), music, educational booths, and some games available to play. Bring a camp chair or blanket for seating.
For those interested in riding the Roundup, information and registration will be available beginning September 1, 2018.
Working of the Bison: November 1, 2 and 3
After rounding up the bison from the island, staff and volunteers will be working the bison through the corrals in order to check the health, vaccinate, count and sort the island’s bison. Guided tours will be given each day to give the public an up close and personal look at these amazing animals. Tours are free and do not require reservations, unless you are bringing a large group. The working is from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm each day. Guided tours are from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm and from 1:00 pm to 4:30 each day.
